The works on the construction of the Iverak-Lajkovac fast traffic route, which will connect Valjevo with the Milos Veliki highway, were visited by the minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, who emphasized on that occasion that it was a very important project for Valjevo and Lajkovac, because it will create the conditions for the arrival of foreign investors.

– We plan to create thousands of new jobs this year, of which one factory alone, Hansgrohe, will create around 500 jobs by the end of the year, and none of this would be possible if it was not for the perspective of the construction of this road. I have to thank the Chinese partners, the company Shandong, which has practically pre-financed the works in the past year and a half. It’s a very great help and very great support and this project is something that will give Valjevo primacy in this part of Western Serbia. It will also give a new quality to Lajkovac, in the sense of making it a traffic hub on this part of the Milos Veliki highway – Momirovic said, as announced on the ministry’s website.

The mayor of Valjevo, Lazar Gojkovic, confirmed that the biggest value of this project was that Valjevo has become interesting to new investors.

– This is proven by the two contracts that we signed with two new German investors, one of which has already started building its factory, whereas the other will start doing so in March. This means new jobs, not just for Valjevo, but for the entire Kolubara District. What I have to announce, and it has also been confirmed, is that we will start building the first phase of the bypass route which will connect the fast route Iverak-Lajkovac with the business zone, and after that, in the second phase, the plan is for it to be connected with the south bypass route. The length of the first phase is 2.2 km and we are currently in the phase of choosing a strategic partner – Gojkovic said.

The Iverak-Lajkovac section, 18.3 kilometers long, with two lanes in each direction, is designed for speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour. It will connect Valjevo with the Milos Veliki highway (E-763), as well as parts of Republika Srpska, that is, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the Milos Veliki highway and further, through Corridor 10, with Bulgaria and Greece.
