The minister of construction, transport and infrastructure of Serbia, Tomislav Momirovic, has signed the commercial contract on designing and executing the works on the construction of the bypass route around Uzice in that city and announced that the works will be done in two years.

The signing of the agreement was also attended by the mayor of Uzice, Jelena Rakovic-Radivojevic, who called it a historic day and said that the signed agreement would enable Uzice to finally get the bypass route that has been talked about for decades.

The construction of the future bypass route is a new connection between IB-grade state road 28 (Uzice-Zlatibor) and IB-grade state road 23 (Uzice-Kadinjaca-Bajina Basta).

The length of the planned bypass route is around 4.85 kilometers. Significant structures on it include the de-leveled crossing with the Uzice-Zlatibor road and the bridge on the river Djetinja of around 252 meters.

The contractor is Power Construction Corporation of China Limited and an amount of EUR 29.8 million has been agreed.

Momirovic pointed out that the new bypass route would incite urban development, increase traffic safety and considerably reduce air pollution in Pozega, as announced on the website of the Government of Serbia.
