Transformation of Sports Airport Ravan into Tourist-Commercial Airport Planned – Construction of Runway, Hangars, Aviation Technology Maintenance Service and Other Features Envisaged

The Urban Planning Administration of the City of Cacak has put up for public inspection the Amendments to the Detailed Regulation Plan for the planned Preljina Airport for the zones of business-production functions.

According to the document, the area covered by the plan is 329.25 ha.

The airport zone is planned in the southwest part of the area covered by the plan, not far from its border, in the space which features the existing sport airport Ravan, which is privately owned.

The existing airport has the reference code sign A1 and a paved runway, 160 meters long and 20 meters wide, and a runway strip 220 meters long and 40 meters wide, which is partially paved and partially covered with grass. In addition to the runway, the airport is equipped with a control tower 16 meters tall and a hangar for devices, says the document presented on the official website of the City of Cacak.

The plan is to transform the airport from a sports airport into a tourist-commercial one, with an expansion of the capacities and services it offers.

The future airport is planned to have a runway 800 meters long and 30 meters wide (the Spatial Plan envisages a runway of 800 x 20 m), whereas the runway strip is to be 920 meters long and 90 meters wide.

In addition to the runways, the plan is to build various technical buildings: hangars for the parking and equipment of small and medium planes, an aviation technology maintenance service, fuel tanks and others.

– Since the idea is to turn a sports airport into a commercial one, depending of the capacities of the airport, it needs to be equipped with side features. Tourist airports are accompanied with spaces for the accommodation of the passengers and the luggage, with information and ticket sale counters, waiting rooms, various side commercial features (kiosks, gift shops, restaurants…) Also, a commercial airport needs administrative rooms for various airport services, rooms for an emergency medical aid service and a rescue and fire service and others – the document adds.

The Planning Commission of the City of Cacak will have a public session on July 4 at noon, when the complaints submitted during the public inspection are to be considered, the ad says.
