We will buy electricity from EPS only next year as well – Companies are not interested in selling electricity to citizens
None of the registered electricity traders apart from EPS will take part in the retail sale of electricity to citizens as of January 1, Blic finds out.
There is an option that only Slovenian GEN I, which has already been selling electricity to a part of Serbian trade, in test period, tries to work with households as well. But not with everybody, only with the ones who have bigger consumption, i.e. use red tariff a lot.
- With the electricity price lower than the market one, there is hardly room to
develop competition and real opening of electricity market for the citizens. Other
suppliers will wait to see the governmental long-term plan– almost all electricity
dealers say for Blic.
Big suppliers such as EFT, Rudnap, Nove, etc. as for now will not have any
offer which refers to supplying citizens with electricity. The Energy Agency is
not surprised with this information..
- At the moment, at the Serbian market, 84 suppliers has a license for
electricity trading and only three supply end users. Due to low price of
regulated supplying, it is not expected that a large number of citizens will be
interested at all in electricity purchase at the market. It can happen
suppliers offer more favorable supplying than regulated to a group of
households, for instance to the ones using electricity for heating and consuming more than 2.000 kilowatts per month-
Dusan Dakovic from the Energy Agency explains for Blic.
The GM at EPS, Aleksandar Obradovic, says for Blic that
citizens who do not change supplier are not obliged to report the decision to
EPS snabdevanje.
- The contracts citizen have remain effective – Obradovic explains.
