Domestic telecommunications market stagnates

Out of 1.684 registered companies in telecommunication in the field of the Republic of Serbia, 1.115 is active and 516 have registered business profit.

Average annual growth rate in telecommunications sector in the period 2011 – 2013 increased by 4, 1%, business profit increased by 5,9%, headcount number was on the increase while average engagement per company was on decrease. Nominal growth of 2,6 to 5,9% was generated based on economic indicators.

Leading 50 telecommunications companies employ 87% of workforce and dominant market stake of 73% in 2013, was generated by four companies - Telekom, Telenor, Vip mobile and SBB doo. These companies hire two thirds of employees in telecommunications. The market stake of Telekom decreased in all parameters even when it comes to business income, profit and assets.

According to basic economic indicators, telecommunications market in Serbia has been stagnating despite significant investments in mobile networks of newer generations, it was estimated in a discussion “Where and how domestic telecommunications go” after presentations at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
