Official floods damage estimation in economy total EUR 1,6 m
The report on estimation of necessary rehabilitation of the Government of Serbia generated with the support of EU, World Bank and UN showed that he official damage estimation in Serbian economy caused by floods was estimated at EUR 1,6 billion, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) which will, among other things provide support for rehabilitation of damage on infrastructure, announced.
EBRD will provide support to Belgrade for rehabilitation of damage for infrastructure caused by floods in May this year and in line with the agreement, they will cover reconstruction of a few financial liabilities of the city totaling EUR 78 m.
- We appreciate EBRD’s support which provides us to focus on priority interventions in rehabilitation of consequences from floods. This confirms the strength of our long-term partnership with the bank– the mayor of Belgrade Sinisa Mali said.
EBRD head for Serbia, Matteo Patrone, said the recovery and rehabilitation from floods is the most important for Serbia and its economy.
- The damage to the city of Belgrade is very serious and therefore EBRD will support the city administration in implementation of its plan for rehabilitation from floods – Patrone said.
Since the beginning of its activities in Serbia, EBRD poured more than EUR 3,8 billion through 182 projects country-wide, it was stated in the announcement and reminded that floods hit SEE part of Europe and jeopardize more than 1,5 million people only in Serbia, causing huge economic damage in the entire region.
