Šumadija and Pomoravlje call for investors – first Investment conference of central Serbia

State Secretary of the Ministry of International Economic Relations, Vlatko Sekulović, announced yesterday (May 7, 2007) at the Investment conference of central Serbia, that it was necessary, for the sake of more successful attracting of foreign investments, to change the Law on State-owned property management as soon as possible, as well as to define the concept of regionalization of Serbia.
- It is necessary to have the law changed as soon as possible and to perform decentralization of State-owned property, so that the local self-governments would be able to manage the buildings lands on their territory – said Sekulović at the first Investment conference held in Kragujevac, the aim of which was the positioning of the region, investments attracting and creation of new image of the business community of cities and municipalities of central Serbia.

The participants in the first conference were the cities (Kragujevac, Paraćin, Knić, Despotovac, Aranđelovac, Požerevac, Kraljevo, Užice, Rača, Veliko Gradište, Lapovo, Rekovac, Topola and Svilajnac) and businessmen of central Serbia, representatives of the embassies of Korea, Denmark, India, Poland, regional chamber of commerce, Croatian Chamber of Commerce, German foundation GTZ, as well as representatives of Italian regions, Serbian Association of Managers and others.
The Mayor of Kragujevac, Veroljub Stevanović, stated that Kragujevac with its surroundings represented exceptionally favorable terrain for foreign investments, because, in addition to existing industrial zones, the projects for construction and equipping of new zones had been activated in the city and neighboring municipalities. Kragujevac, according to his words, has potentials for investments into industry, education and tourism.
