Households in Serbia can choose their electricity supplier as well
As of January 1, the electricity market in Serbia completely opened which means households can also pick up their electricity supplier.
Households have the right to supply with electricity at open market if they estimate it is more profitable for them but they are not obliged to do so, i.e. they will be able to, after January 1, keep public, i.e. guaranteed supplying.
Switch of suppliers will be free of charge and will last 21 day most and a supplier will carry out the entire process, not electricity buyer.
The head of the Electric Power Industry of Serbia (EPS), Aleksandar Obradovićc, said to Beta agency that they are not expecting huge competition for household supplying due to low electricity price in Serbia.
He said it is hard to estimate which stake EPS will keep at the market since a lot of things will depend on competition.
He said he does not expect price as the only argument to attract a buyer.
A household which opts for supplier change should settle debts to EPS Snabdevanje and turn to its new supplier which is obliged to carry put administrative procedure.
