Due to Greek crisis, hedge funds are buying gold again

Hedge funds have started buying gold again after political crisis in Greece and actions of governments in Asian countries contributed to the fastest gold price increase since June last year.

For the first time in the past three weeks, the number of investors who bet at higher prices of that precious metal increased, while their number since mid-November doubled, according to the official data of the American Government , which New York agency, Bloomberg reports.

As long as cheaper oil keeps inflation under control, gold, as an alternative active is becoming important again. As a reason for that, Bloomberg states opposing of Greek people to strict savings measures which could at the end result in country’s exiting Euro zone as well as decease of interest rates in China in order to boost economy growth as well as expansion of monetary incentives program in Japan.



Long-standing positions in gold have increased in the last week last year for 5, 7%, to 98,391 futures and options, according to the American Commission for trading in goods futures.
