SERTIC: Selection for advisor for sale of Telekom

Public call for the selection of privatization advisor for sale of Telekom Srbija will be released in the next two weeks, Zeljko Sertic says, Blic reports.

- The Supervisory Board at Telekom will first make decision on elements of the public call for an advisor in the sale of the company and then it will formally release the tender – the minister of trade explains.

As Blic finds out, a privatization advisor will be responsible to define the model of sale of national tele-operator optimal for the owner, i.e. the state and then to prepare tender for sale of Telekom. Practically, the document which an advisor generates will show what is offered to investors as well as the price below which the company must not be offered for sale at the market.

Deadline for application of consultants for this work will be, as we were confirmed, 25 days of the publication of the public call at the Official Gazette and the completion deadline will most likely be three months. It will enable that by June this year, tender for sale of Telekom is prepared by June this year.

If everything runs smoothly, the owners of Telekom could be known by the fall.

As for now, most mentioned is the interest of Deutsche Telekom for Serbian national tele-operator. However, interest of the investors from Russia, UAE and USA has still been mentioned.

The Parliament has been delivered the Proposal of the Law on companies which enables Telekom to keep still 20% of its own shares for which, in the case of sale, the existing company’s shareholders have the pre-emptive right, i.e. the Republic of Serbia, citizens and former employees.

Sertic says that these two jobs are not directly connected. Changes of the Law on companies prevented annulation of a portion of shares owned by Telekom since according to current provisions of the law, a portion of its own shares in the company can be up to 10%.
