Jedinstvo takes over Pozega foundry

Uzice-based company Jedinstvo has made a better bid than Poland's Luma Investment and become the owner of Pozega foundry in Pozega for RSD 309 million, it is said in today's issue of the daily newspaper Politika.
At public auction, the bidder from Poland offered RSD 279.2 million for the foundry, but Jedinstvo's bid was assessed as suitable because it covers 80% of the total estimated value of this Pozega-based company.
Mica Micic, the president of Jedinstvo, has announced that the core activity of Pozega foundry will not be changed, adding that none of the workers will be dismissed. The new owner of the foundry in Pozega also told Tanjug news agency that the newly acquired company with the new management would again become one of the most successful businesses in Pozega.
- Our plan is to make new investments in order to significantly increase production and ensure even bigger exports to Russian Federation, where Jedinstvo operates for years now - said Micic.
According to Nikola Sojic, long-time director of Pozega foundry, this company used to have 110 permanent employees and 30 temporary workers until it went bankrupt.
- The new owner plans on investing EUR 500,000 in production in order to reach full production capacity of 10,000 tonnes of cast pedals and 300,000 pieces of azbestos-free pedals for the needs of railways. New investments will also lead to the creation of another 50 to 60 new jobs this year - Sojic explained to Tanjug.
Pozega-based foundry was a successful export company until recently. Namely, last autumn this company fell into bankruptcy owing the problems faced by Farmakom MB, its majority owner until recently.
