Bids for new 4G frequencies opened today

Bids submitted by Telekom Srbija, Telenor and Vip mobile for the use of new radio frequency bands for mobile telephony in Serbia were opened today at the Republic Agency for Electronic Communications (Ratel).

The commission will review the documentation enclosed by the bidders, and a public auction for granting licenses will be held February 19th.

Bids are submitted for radio-frequencies in the band 1.710-1.785/1.805-1.880 (MHz) that will make it possible to introduce the fourth generation (4G) of mobile telecommunications technology.

Ratel will issue up to three individual licenses for the use of radio frequencies in the given band for a period of 10 years with a possibility of extending that period for two more years.

Ratel announced before that the introduction of 4G technologies in Serbia was expected to start in mid-May 2015, which will definitely contribute to the expansion of service portfolio and better quality of service.
