Construction of basalt mine Vrelo near Brus planned

Near Brus, at the Vrelo finding, there are large explored basalt reserves of extraordinary quality , it was outlined at the constitutional meeting of the new call for the Council for basalt held at SCC February 18 this year. Implementation of the project of construction of basalt ore mine Vrelo is of strategic importance for Serbia, the Council members think.

With the construction of the basalt mine, Vrelo, terms would be generated for opening of more hundreds of vacancies which would partially halt migration from the poorest Kopaonik villages near the administrative border with Kosovo and Metohija. Apart from that, eruptive material for road construction which is now partially imported would be provided as the most quality granulate for fast lanes. Mine construction is a precondition for plant construction for finalization of basalt ore products which replace asbestos such as interrupted and uninterrupted fibers.

At yesterday’s constitutional meeting of the new call, the Council adopted the action plan for implementation of the basalt ore exploitation, it was published at SCC website.
