ZUCKERBERG: We continue to develop Internet.org
Facebook in cooperation with its partners will continue to develop service Internet.org so that as many people as possible would be connected via global network, Mark Zuckerberg, a founder of Facebook said at the annual fair Mobile World Congress (MCW) in Barcelona.
As the first man of Facebook said, internet infrastructure is expensive and therefore it takes as many mobile operators as possible to participate in the Internet.org project and therefore he invited them to become partners.
Facebook in cooperation with leaders in technology, NGOs and local communities, in 2013, started Internet.org so that two thirds of people in the world who do not have internet access would connect to network. The objective is to enable as large number of people as possible cheap access to internet and free access to certain applications. Participants in the project are working on resources distribution as well as experience in research of the best solutions for objective achievement.
One of the partners within Internet.org is Ericsson with whom Facebook started Innovation Lab.
Apart from Ericsson, other Facebook partners in the Internet.org project are Samsung, Nokia, MediaTek, Qualcomm, Opera Software.
