New management takes over Zelezara Smederevo

New management of the Dutch company, HPK engineering, has taken over today management of Smedervo-based Zelezara and the first day started with the meeting of the main managers, president of the Supervisory Board and the member of the institution, John Goodish and Peter Karamas with all department heads of Serbian steel plant.

The meeting was managed by Goodish and Kamaras with their team which now has 6 managers and we expect the rest of them to come by the end of the week. In about two weeks, a whole team of 24 managers should arrive to Smederevo – Executive Manager at Zelezara, Bojan Bojkovic, said for Tanjug.

When it comes to Serbian team member, which will monitor management of Zelezara, the Government of Serbia is yet to decide on that.

Bojkovic says new rules have already been set.

As he said, discussions will move to procurement of raw materials and sale and it is expected the meetings will last almost all day.

Bojkovic said the workers were euphoric but they are clear as for now that everything promised was fulfilled.

-A serious managerial team came, department heads have seen it so far, and people of course know the entire team from the past – Bojkovic said.

It is expected, he says, that Goodish who will be the president of the Supervisory Board, tours the plant, since he announced that every day he will set aside three, four or five hours for touring the plant so that he would become familiar with details and people in production departments.

Goodish will do it so that later, as he said, he could make strategic decisions more easily.
