Work from an informal office instead of home - Hub center opened within Novi Sad's Apolo

Hubs are associations that have dedicated the past few years to intensive promotion of entrepreneurship and education of programmers working from home on a global level.

– However, hub centers are also focused on education of all other businessmen who have good business ideas and want to market them, find a partner, investor, associate to help further development of their ideas - says Katarina Vucic, the coordinator of Hub-centar. - The idea is to focus on expert trainings in programming and sales in the initial phase of operations of Hub-centar. Our plan for April is to educate entrepreneurs to make them a better speaker, presenter, negotiator and teach them how to make a business plan and develop an idea or strategy. These are the skills that make individuals better than others who want to promote their ideas and business - Katarina Vucic explains.

According to her, the space within Apolo in Novi Sad represents a symbiosis of two kinds of work.

– Entrepreneurs who work from home should sometimes leave the house because working at home can from time to time be an obstructive factor, and the space they can use at our hub center allows them to exchange experience and connect with other people and organize their work in the way that fits them the best. For the time being, this space is intended for IT sector only, but we will soon start offering it to designers, journalists and, gradually, other professions too - says the coordinator.

She stresses that the same model has been in use in the USA for years, adding that it is now also increasingly present in large European cities. The coordinator says that the monthly membership fee at Hub-centar is about RSD 7,000.

– The hub space will also be used to organize lectures, workshops, training courses, meetings. We will also organize lectures for individuals working from home, groups, educators... - says Katarina Vucic.

As she notes, Belgrade is the biggest center of the kind, featuring several hub centers. Hub-centar is the first hub center in Novi Sad. These centers also exist in Nis, Kragujevac and Zrenjanin.
The City of Novi Sad and the City Economy Administration have recognized the quality of Hub-centar and, therefore, provided them with a space within Apolo center that is adopted to meet the working requirements of its users.
