"Delhaize" and "Ahold" are negotiating on merge
Chains of supermarkets "Ahold" from the Netherlands and "Delhaize" from Belgium have been negotiating on merging, media report.
Talks have been ongoing at the highest corporative level, "De Tijd" and "L'Echo" reported on Saturday, quoting a few insiders. But, negotiations have been in early stage still.
Both companies refused to comment media statements. Ahold’s market value is two times higher than of Delhaize and apart from that, Dutch chain operated better last year as well than the Belgium one.
Both companies generated majority of its sale in USA and they have been thought candidates for merge for a long time.
