China builds longest overseas bridge in the world - structure 36 km long above Hangjou gulf
China has completed works on the longest overseas bridge in the world - structure 36 km long above Hangjou gulf, made of metal and concrete, will enable transport across the Eastern Chinese Sea. The bridge with six lanes will shorten the road from main city-port Ningbo to Shangai by 120 km, and it should be officially opened prior to the beginning of Olympic Games next year.
Construction lasted for three years and cost about 1.3 billion USD. What is interesting is that the construction was, for the first time, financed with the private capital.
