Russia extends embargo for another year - Ban on food imports from EU still in place
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a decree to extend Russia’s embargo on food imports from the countries that imposed sanctions to Russia for another year.
- I have just approved a list of goods that will be banned for import for one more year, until 5 August 2016 - said Medvedev.
In August 2014, Russia limited the importation of food products from the countries that imposed sanctions on them, including the EU. The blacklist includes meat, sausages, fish, fruits, vegetables, dairy and other food products, RIA Novosti reminds.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday, at a meeting with Government members, that Russia would extend countermeasures to Western sanctions for another year.
