As of 2018 Austria to implement video vignettes on highways

Vignettes stickers for highways and fast roads in Austria as of 2018 will be superstructured with video vignettes.

Video vignettes are managed online, cameras on signal bridges above the head of the highways and fast roads read registry plates and computer recognizes a car with paid toll.

Video vignettes will be available online and will cost as much as models pasted. Investment will total EUR 12 m.

Austrian minister of traffic, Alois Stoeger says video vignettes are a great leap for drivers.

- There will be no scratches and the ones coming from abroad will not have to stop at the border - Pickerl says.
