EUR 10 million for garage at Students Square in Belgrade - Request for proposals from prospective architects announced

Designs for an underground garage at Students Square and an annex over the garage at Obilicev Venac will be completed by the year's end, City Manager Goran Vesic announced. He added that the city core lacked about 5,000 parking places and that the City of Belgrade was determined to solve that big problem.
As the City Administration announced in a release, Vesic said in his guest appearance on Beogradska Hronika that the garage at Students Square for 750 cars would be built by Parking Servis from its own resources.
According to him, a request for proposals from prospective architects is already announced for this investment valued at about EUR 10 million, and this selection process is expected to be done by the year's end, so the construction could commence in 2016.
A request for proposals has also been issued for the design of additional floors over the Obilicev Venac garage, which is the busiest in the city, with 220 new parking places, Vesic stressed.
Besides, several garages will be built in cooperation with the EBRD through public-private partnership, including those at Republic Square, in Kosovska Street, Skerliceva Street, Crveni Krst, and Tadeusa Koscuska Street.
- The public already knows that the city center will be turned into a pedestrian zone within the next four or five years. In order to do this, we must provide additional parking places for both tenants in the pedestrian zone and those coming to this part of the city - said Vesic.
