The Electric Power Company of Serbia (EPS) today signed a EUR 26.6 million agreement to purchase smart meters and modern equipment in order to reduce losses in power transmission.
The agreement was signed between EPS Director Aleksandar Obradovic and Jerome d'Parque d'Plesier, a representative of the tender winner - the consortium Atos WD Sagemcom.
The first phase will see 208,962 measuring points covered by the EPS metering system, it was said at the agreement signing ceremony. It was also announced that the installation of modern equipment would start early November, after all the necessary testing was done.
This project is financed with the proceeds of EUR 26.6 milllion loan approved by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the initially planned budget was EUR 58.5 million.
By accepting the lowest price bid, EPS saved EUR 31.9 million.
Obradovic stressed it was a big day for EPS because the power company of Serbia was one step closer to more efficient operations. He pointed out that the modern equipment they procured would cut EPS' losses in power transmission.
