Colorful world of plastic nets - Foreign sales account for 40% of Sigma promet's turnover

With about 200 products in its portfolio, Sigma promet has been one of the leading producers of plastic nets and fences in the domestic market with foreign sales accounting for about 40% of the company's total turnover which grows at an annual rate of 20 to 30%. This company, established in Becej 18 years ago, is expanding in line with market demands, which is why they are mainly focused on exports, primarily to Spain, Slovenia and Croatia. As eKapija was told by the director of this company, Endre Feher, they are tied to the domestic market because they lack adequate machines to boost exports, but the modernization of production is in the pipeline.

- The culture of packaging in Serbia is not on the same level as elsewhere in Europe, so it has to be raised to a higher level. Since we are a manufacturer, we don't find it hard to follow trends from day to day, but it is difficult when there's no need for it - our interlocutor explains why the market in Serbia is underdeveloped and why they focus on exports.

At the recent Packing and Packaging Fair in Belgrade, they unveiled packaging nets for use in agriculture and industry. Their portfolio also includes machines that help pack agricultural products.

- The company focuses on agriculture and horticulture. Traditional and uniquely developed nets and grids made of plastic, which our company sells, provide solutions for cutting the expenditures and improving the productivity and protection in the field of fruit growing and viticulture, forestry and hunting economy, truck farming and horticulture as well as cattle breeding – says Feher.

The main clients of Sigma promet are packaging and distribution companies. Also, special attention is paid to the development of use of plastic nets in civil engineering, architecture, transportation and packaging.

As our interlocutor stresses, competition should exist in every business and it really does.

- We follow the trend of competition, but we are focused on our needs and the needs of our buyers - our interlocutor explains the business phylosophy of the company.

Sigma promet's production facility is situated on a surface area of 3,000 square meters in Becej. They employ 11 people working in three shifts. The management and employees of this company have many years of experience in the business as well as international business contacts.

Further plans of the company depend on financial inflow and operations. What they need in order to keep following trends are new machines, which is why they invest in production every year. They hope to have an automatic production plant in five or six years and, thus, shorten the production process and increase the number of articles.
