Procedure started for exclusion of Institute for textbooks and teaching aids from privatization
Due to great importance of the Institute for textbooks and teaching aids to the publishing activity in Serbia, Privatization Agency has started procedure for exclusion of that public company from privatization plans.
The initiative for exclusion of the Institute for textbooks from privatization came from the Ministry of Economy and the Agency sent a letter to the Ministry of Education, asking them to give opinion.
In case authorized ministry responds positively, the tender will be cancelled and the company will remain 100% owned by the state.
Public invitation for participation in the tender for purchase of the Institute was announced on April 17, 2007, and the deadline for delivery of obligatory bids was May 25, 2007.
The plan was that 25% of the state-owned capital be sold on the tender and, according to some unofficial information, numerous domestic publishers and buyers were interested in purchase of this significant publishing company.
