Vrsac among most successful municipalities in terms of use of EU pre-accession assistance
(Vrsac)
Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, Michael Davenport, assessed Thursday in Vrsac that that municipality was one of the most successful in terms of the use of EU pre-accession assistance, adding that it should set example for other municipalities and cities in Serbia.
- I've come here to see concrete results and I am impressed by the level of cooperation between the municipality and the economy, the level of planning and shared vision, which creates better conditions for accessing EU funds of different kinds. Vrsac is very successful in the use of funds, and it obtained a big sum of money for various projects thanks to this cooperation and efficiency - Davenport said while touring the Business Incubator Center in Vrsac Technology Park.
According to him, the Business Incubator Center shows the importance of small and medium-sized enterprises and their big ambitions.
Davenport expressed satisfaction with having the chance to see the most successful projects that the Vrsac municipality implemented in cooperation with partners and financed by the EU through cross-border cooperation programs - AgriCo market, the Regional Cultural Heritage Center Konkordija, and the Business Incubator Center in Vrsac Technology Park.
Head of the EU Delegation reminded that the first time he was staying in Vrsac, the site of current Technology Park was a meadow, "while now this location is home to 10 companies employing thousands of people with great prospects for further investments and development."
Vrsac Mayor Cedomir Zivkovic told the press that the local self-government had obtained more than EUR 10 million in the EU pre-accession assistance.
