China's Rastar Group takes over Espanyol FC

China's Rastar Group is going to acquire a 56-percent stake in the football club Espanyol through its branch office in Hong Kong, Reuters reports. The amount of this transaction is estimated at between 14.3 and 17.8 million euro.
According to Reuters, Rastar Group, which is engaged in car modeling and trading in raw materials, has promised the Catalonian club a big investment in infrastructure in the amount of EUR 45 million.
Espanyol FC finished the previous season in the Spanish Primera in tenth position. This season, after ten matches played, the club also ranks 10th with 13 points.
This club played last time in an European competition in the season 2006/2007, after winning the King's Cup, and it was beaten by Sevilla FC in the UEFA Cup finals after penalties.
