China's Yihai is interested in the Vrsacki vinogradi company, and its CEO Linda Wonk paid a visit to Vrsac on Wednesday to talk with municipal officials.
The Chinese came to Vrsac accompanied by SNS trustees for the South Banat Region, Darko Jovanovic and Branko Malovic, and were received by Mayor Cedomir Zivkovic and his associate Aleksandar Djordjevic, after which they visited Vrsacki vinogradi.
According to the daily Blic, possible investors from China left satisfied. - They are indeed pleased with what they saw, but the results of this visit and talks will be known in few days - says Djordjevic.
The visit of possible investors from China followed a recent visit to Vrsac by Minister Nikola Selakovic, who promised assistance to Vrsacki vinogradi.
Vrsacki vinogradi has been in bankruptcy since 23 November 2015, while the last worker left the company back in August, when pre-bankruptcy proceedings were commenced and all 240 workers accepted the social program.
The biggest problems for Vrsacki vinogradi emerged in the first privatization process in 2006, when the company was bought by Rodic MB, Vinoprodukt - Coka and Secer i Sefer. The privatization agreement was terminated in 2009, leaving multimillion debts behind. Another unsuccessful attempt to sell the fallen wine giant took place in 2013.
