Search for concessionaire for Keles landfill continues - Helector from Greece and Urbaser from Spain interested in construction

A repeated Call for Proposals from prospective concessionaires for the construction of new landfill in partnership with the City of Nis has attracted four companies, only two of which have submitted a complete documentation - Helector from Greece and Urbaser from Spain. These two are now expected to make their offer.

In addition to aforementioned companies, the first qualification phase in which bidders are to submit their references only also attracted Austria's Strabag and Greece's Mesogeos.

However, as explained by people at the Regional development agency Jug which runs the whole procedure pertaining to Keles, these two companies failed to submit appropriate documentation.

Now all eyes are on the Spanish company and the firm from Greece.

Let us remind that the best bidder will be entrusted with waste management in the region for a period of 25 years. The plan for Keles is to accept trash from Nis, Doljevac, Gadzin Han, Merosina, Aleksinac, Svrljig, Sokobanja and Razanj.
