Implementation of 18 infrastructure projects in Serbia - Investment valued at EUR 1.9 billion
- The Serbian government intends to implement them by ensuring the most favorable forms of funding, using the EU grants, proceeds of affordable loans from international finance institutions, funds from other development partners, as well as money from the budget - Joksimovic said at a meeting of the National Investment Board.
As she noted, among these projects is the construction of Nis-Pristina road and wastewater treatment facility in Novi Sad and Nis, as well as railway modernization on several stretches along Corridor X.
- The Government has so far provided EUR 166.2 million to finance these priority projects. The lending terms are extremely favorable and loans are mainly non-refundable -Joksimovic pointed out and added that elections would not decelerate either the implementation of projects or the fulfillment of Government's obligations on the path towards the EU integration.
She announced that the European Union would be presented new projects and ideas for 2016, which required an investment of EUR 281 million.
Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic noted that it was necessary to remediate defficiencies in the existing infrastructure and to complete it.
Michael Danveport, the head of the EU Delegation to Serbia, underlined that infrastructure projects were important for the overall reform of Serbia and that the EU would always back such activities.
