EU's green light comes first then business with Chinese - Serbia is negotiating with Brussels on sale of Zelezara?

Our delegation has to convince Brussels that, even though HBIS buys Zelezara, only goods from Smederevo and not from China will reach European market.

- Brussels is asking for additional assurances that Smederevo will not be a cover for placement of steel produced in China. It will not give permission for that since already low steel prices would be cut into half, which would lead to closure of European steel mills. Therefore, they asked for an insight into a memorandum with HBIS and documentation about what the debt of 470 million euros is, or proof that it has not comprised the part which was generated after February 2015. He says that Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic also took part in the process, who gave a special assignment to Boris Milosevic, a representative of KPMG, privatization advisor of Zelezara, that he checks every Serbian paper before it goes to Brussels.

Member of the Supervisory Board at Zelezara, Bojan Bojkovic, believes that Serbian delegation will be able to obtain a license.
