An American agribusiness company “Monsanto” refused on Tuesday, 24 May 2016, the 62 billion USD worth takeover offer made by the German pharmaceutical giant “Bayer”, estimating that it was “financially inadequate”.

“Monsanto”, however, said that they were willing to participate in further negotiations about merging the two companies, AFP informs.

The “Monsanto” board, the company claims, “is unanimous in its view of the 'Bayer' offer as incomplete and financially inadequate”.

The board is, however, “open to continue with constructive talks in order to estimate whether the transaction, which is in the best interest of 'Monsanto' shareholders, can be achieved”, the company states.
