Starting on 1 June 2016, the natural gas prices for all buyers in Serbia who have the right to public supply will be lowered by an average of 4%, and by 3.6% for households, since the Council of the Energy Agency of Serbia gave its agreement on the decision of 33 public suppliers to change the prices.

This change is a consequence of the fall in the exchange rate of the USD, which is the currency used for the importing of natural gas.

This is the fifth lowering of the natural gas prices for public supply since June 2015, after which the average prices for these buyers will be lower by 36% relative to that month’s prices.

The right to public supply is owned by the buyers whose yearly expenditure is up to 100,000 m3 and whose objects are all connected to the distributive system of natural gas. All these buyers, however, including households, have a right to choose freely their market supplier.

In Serbia, around 10% of the total number of households, that is 250 thousand households, has a gas connection. In 2015, 226 thousand households were buying gas, using an average of 845 m3 per year. These will be paying less for a cubic meter of natural gas by 1.32 RSD in average than they have so far, which makes the annual bill, VAT included, at this price rate, lower by around 1,227 RSD.
