Works to begin on expanding and stabilizing the Duboko landfill in Uzice – Project worth 4.5 mil EUR
The statement says that the Serbian Government has procured 2 mil EUR, whereas the value of the donation by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) is 2.5 mil EUR.
The project will be realized in two phases. The first phase of the works is scheduled for this year, and it comprises stabilization measures and the construction of the new A1 cell for the disposal of waste at the bottom of Turski Potok. The cell will have a volume of 130,890 cubic meters.
The Study of the estimation of the suitability and the amount of material from the excavation at the PUE Duboko landfill was done in order to realize the stabilizing measures for a section of the landfill. This study made possible the excavation and the exploitation of natural materials in the amount of 60,000 cubic meters.
The construction of a new landfill, totaling 541,620 cubic meters in volume, is scheduled for the second phase of the project. This means two more waste disposal cells – A2 and A3.
The Greek company Enviroplan designed the main project, whereas the technical control was put in trust of the experts from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade.
Through the realization of this project and the crossing over to the other side of Turski Potok, the life of the Duboko landfill will be extended by an additional three decades, the statements says.
