A 250 mil EUR investment stalled – Qatari Diar still not building the luxurious residential resort at Blue Horizons
The works on the luxurious residential resort at Blue Horizons in Montenegro, which should have been accelerated by June according to a Government representative, haven't yet begun.
Local residents and owners of the land which was expropriated for the construction of tourist mansions, which the company Qatari Diar is planning to build, claim that the construction sites are empty and that no one from the cadastre company hasn't been there for months, even though the Minster of Sustainable Development and Tourism Branimir Gvozdenovic announced at the beginning of April that the building would pick up steam in the next two months, writes the newspaper Dan.
The media wrote earlier that the cadastre company had given up the construction in Blue Horizons, whereas the Ministry had denied that, by claiming that the realization of the project had merely been slowed down. The building of the tourist complex has been waited on since 2010.
The representatives of the local population claim that both they and the state have lost a great deal of money, since the land was taken away from them five years ago, and nothing has been done with it so far. They state that they can't understand why the Government won't cancel the contract, since the cadastre company hasn't done anything for five years, except taking the land and tearing down the former hotel.
The Government signed a contract with Qatari Diar six years ago, based on which a tourist complex worth 250 mil EUR was supposed to be built at Blue Horizons. The initial plan was to build a Hilton Hotel at the site, but the plan was changed in 2013.
