World wine museum opens in Bordeaux – Sumadija to represent Serbia
Considering the status of the city of Bordeaux in France as the world capital of wine, the decision was made several years ago to open the first wine theme park there, which includes the World Wine Museum. The opening ceremony of “The City of Wine”, or “La Cité du Vin” took place on June 1, and the ceremony was attended by the president of France François Hollande.
Although there are other wine museums in the world, like California Wine Museum in the USA, Hameau Dubœuf in France and Koutsoyannopoulos Wine Museum in Greece, the one in Bordeaux is the most monumental edifice of its kind, offering a wide array of themes relating to wine and wine culture. It is expected to draw over 450,000 visitors annually, and more than EUR 85 mil was invested in it.
The permanent exhibition includes 21 wine brands from Sumadija. Bozidar Aleksandrovic, head of the Association of Winemakers of Sumadija, who attended the opening ceremony, says that the permanent exhibition of the museum includes 9 wine manufacturers of the region.
Visitors will be able to get to know Kraljevska Vinarija, Aleksandrovic, Radovanovic, Despotika, Arsenijevic, Art Wine, Stari Hrast, Rogan and DeLena. The wines of these wine manufacturers have found their place in the permanent exhibition thanks to their achievements in the most prestigious competitions.
