On Monday, 6 June 2016, The Greek Ministry of Environment officially issued a three-year permit to Transjadranski Gasovod AG for the construction of the Trans-Atlantic Pipeline in Northern Greece.

The decision prescribes that the gas line must be built in accordance with the plans, the budget and other details delivered by the company and that an array of conditions must be met relating to the safety of the workforce, the environment and the local communities which the pipeline goes through, informs Greek press agency ANA.

The TAP will be connected to the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) at the Turkish-Greek border, and the plan is for it to go from the Greek border through Albania to Italy, below the Adriatic Sea.
