VUCIC: Budget deficit at the end of April 11.3 billion dinars, significantly smaller than planned
(Aleksandar Vucic) Prime Minister of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic stated on Wednesday, June 8, that he was pleased that the budget deficit at the end of April had been 11.3 billion dinars, even though it had been agreed with the International Monetary Fund that the deficit be 75.4 billion.
He also pointed out that there had been a significant growth of income from excise taxes by 26.3% relative to the same period of the previous year, and from VAT by 10.3%.
Vucic stated that the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of the year had been 3.5%, and that it was especially important that there had been a growth in processing industry of 11 percent.
According to him, there had been an increase in salaries in the private sector, and he also pointed out that he expected the salaries in the public sector to increase in late 2016 and early 2017.
