The long road to having clean drinking water in Kikinda – Four years and EUR 6 million needed for the filtration factory
Already at the spring itself the Kikinda water is 100% non-potable. The only solution to this important public problem is to build a water filtration facility and to replace the old water supply network.
Whereas the chemical non-potability of the drinking water in Kikinda varies from month to month, the bad chemical composition of the spring water is unfortunately constant, as is the 100% chemical non-potability of the drinking water in northern Banat.
Dragan Krstonosic of the Institute of Public Health in Kikinda said that the only solution to this important public problem was to build a water filtration facility and to replace the old water supply network.
- The already initiated first phase of the realization of the project of the construction of the water factory in Kikinda consisted of adopting the technological solution above all, and what follows is the financial construction of this ambitious project. The planned investment is around EUR 6 million, and the project might be financed with the loan made by the KfW German development bank. Of course, other, possibly more favorable offers will be considered – he added.
- According to the current plans, the project of the construction of the water factory in Kikinda should be realized in the next four years – said Pavle Markov, the mayor of Kikinda.
According to the announcements by the city management and the PE Kikinda, the next phase should begin in June 2017.
