The public administration lets go 14,500 people – Serbia meets the IMF demands

The state committed itself to the rationalization of the number of employees by the agreement with the IMF. At the end of last year, the Government’s decisions regarding the maximum number of employees in the public sector were adopted and the initial deadline was February 2016.
It was envisioned that, of a total of 514,573 people who were employed in the public sector in December 2014, 500,061 were supposed to keep their permanent contracts.
According to the data by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-Government at the time, 14,512 were supposed to lose their jobs.
