VUCIC: Serbia will open chapters 23 and 24 on July 19 in Brussels
Vucic said to the press, following the Summit of the leaders of the Western Balkans in Paris, that Serbia was more optimistic about the future, that there remained a lot to be done, but that he believed that Serbia would have the support of the EU and that it would itself finish the job.
- The Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel congratulated Serbia and asked everybody to support Serbia in its European integration instead of obstructing it – said Vucic and deemed the meeting successful, noticing that others had been more optimistic than him, who had been realistic.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Johannes Hahn stated that Croatia had consented to the opening of chapters 23 and 24 in Serbia's accession negotiations with the EU.
As N1 reports, Hahn tweeted that the Conference had been fruitful, since Croatia, which had been the sole objector to the opening of chapters 23 and 24, had given its consent.
- Paris-Balkans 2016 delivers. Croatia confirms ok for opening accession chapters 23/24 with Serbia. European perspective is real – wrote Hahn.
