City Manager Goran Vesic stated on Wednesday, July 20, that the tender for the construction of a fountain on the Slavija Square placed by the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency had been successful and the four companies had submitted their offers, Beoinfo reports.
– We received offers ranging from net RSD 182 til 229 million. The commission will review all the offers and decide on the choice of the most favorable contractor. The contract will be signed very quickly, depending on whether there will be complaints about the choice of the contractor, and the construction of the grand musical fountain will be financed by the city of Belgrade – Vesic said.
Vesic pointed out that the tender for the construction of traffic lanes on the Slavija Square and in Oslobodjenja Blvd all the way to Autokomanda, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and carried out on behalf of the city of Belgrade by the Investment and Housing Agency, had been completed at the beginning of June.
– We received an additional two offers in this tender and the commission has concluded that they are both invalid. The decision has been submitted to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and, after we receive its confirmation, we will place a new tender for the construction of traffic lanes. We are not happy for the fact that the Slavija project will be carried out in two phases because one tender succeeded and the other one didn't, but there was nothing we could do about it and, after all, it's a matter of obeying the law. I hope that more companies will participate in the repeated tender for the traffic lanes on the Slavija Square, which will be placed very soon, and that we will be able to choose the contractor – Vesic said.
Vesic pointed out that “the construction work on the fountain on the Slavija Square will begin as soon as this autumn and will last for 155 days, without interruptions in the traffic during the construction” and added that “this is good news”.
– The fact that the fountain will be the first one to be completed will enable us to avoid interruptions in the traffic. After the repeated tender for the construction traffic lanes on the Slavija Square has been completed, the second phase will begin, which should happen next spring. Considering that the fountain will have been finished by then, the period in which the traffic flow on Slavija will be reduced will be shorter than in the case of a simultaneous construction of the traffic lanes and the fountain – Vesic said.
