CCIS supporting the strengthening of the economic cooperation between Serbia and Denmark – The Danish interested in energy, infrastructure, agrarian industry and IT

Danish companies from various industries are interested in enhancing their operations in Serbia and increasing their investments in the Serbian economy. Opportunities for local companies to become included in the supply chains of large companies are significant, as are the opportunities for the realization of public-private partnership projects, it was estimated at the meeting between representatives of CCIS and the Embassy of Denmark.

Energy and energy efficiency, infrastructure, agrarian industry and IT are just some of the sectors with potential for the enhancement of cooperation between Serbia and Denmark, said Mihailo Vesovic, deputy general manager of CCIS. He invited representatives of the business community of Denmark to address CCIS regarding information on business and investment environment in Serbia and to submit proposals and initiatives for cooperation with the Serbian economy. The reformed CCIS is an efficient service for the economy and the representative of companies’ interests before the competent institutions in the country and abroad, Vesovic pointed out and reminded that the recently formed Council of Bilateral Chambers was an authority whose role was to strengthen the bonds between bilateral chambers and associations with CCIS.

Head of the Mission of the Embassy of Denmark in Belgrade, Morten Skovgaard Hansen, pointed to great opportunities for cooperation in various industries and pointed out the interest of Danish companies to enhance their business activities in Serbia thanks to the security and reliability, a stable business and investment environment. He presented the Danish Business Club, consisting of the largest Danish companies in Serbia. At the meeting at CCIS, there was talk about involving that business association in the work of the Council of Bilateral Chambers.

The economic cooperation of Serbia and Denmark is based mostly on trade and investment cooperation. The total trade in 2015 amounted to around USD 190 million. Serbia exported goods in the amount of USD 58 million to the Danish market last year, mostly planes and other aircraft, circulator pumps for heating systems, packaging and pharmaceutical drugs. The import from Denmark amounted to around USD 132 million. Serbia mostly imported machine components, pharmaceutical drugs, pump components, aggregates and meat. The biggest Danish investments in Serbia are Carlsberg, Grundfos, JYSK, Mikkelsen Electronics, Healthcare Europe and Kleemann.
