Head of the Property Administration, Ljubisa Janjic, said that the company had hired 780 workers and that it should hire an additional 220 before March.
Janjic added that the city of Nis had assigned the rights to the use of 3.8 hectares of land in close proximity to the Nis Aiport to Johnson Electric, without compensation, in September 2013, and that the company had in turn obliged to employ 1,000 workers before September 2016. As he said, the extension occurred due to the changes in the technology of production.
Mayor of Nis, Darko Bulatovic, said that, thanks to the implementation of modern technologies, Johnson Electric would employ an additional 2,400 workers in the production facility in Nis in the period to come, in addition to the initially agreed 1,000.
The 2,500 square meter production facility of Johnson Electric in Nis opened in September 2014. It produces electric motors for cars. This spring, Johnson Electric built another production facility of roughly the same size.
The Government of Serbia has provided Johnson Electric with EUR 9.000 per hired worker.
