China’s Betec Resources interested in geothermal power plant in Vranjska Banja

The Chinese company Betec Resources is interested in performing geothermal explorations on the territory of Vranjska Banja, which is rich in warm springs. The company intends to build a geothermal power plant on the site, with a capacity of 20 MW a year.

The member of the City Council of Vranje Goran Kostic said that the Chinese investors had announced on the occasion of their visit to Vranje that they would start geothermal explorations on the territory of Vranjska Banja in October.

– We expect the arrival of technical experts from the Chinese company by the end of September, and the exploration of the terrain should start in October and last for a month. They will be fully supported by the local self-government in terms of ownership relations and everything that the city can do to help them get the necessary permits – Kostic said.

He pointed out that the construction and operation of the Vranjska Banja geothermal power plant would be entirely environmentally safe and that the Chinese company had already had experience with similar projects in China, America and Africa.
