First Mei Ta factory in Obrenovac to open in spring 2017 – Chinese already buying land

The equipment for the Mei Ta factory will start arriving to Serbia this autumn. The plan is to start installing all devices on November 1, said the president of the City Assembly of Obrenovac, Miroslav Cuckovic, and added that the factory in Baric will be producing 1.5 million turbochargers. This is the amount that 1,400 workers to be employed in the first turn will be able to produce.

– The entire infrastructural system around the first factory will be completed by next spring and the factory is expected to open then, and the idea is to simultaneously lay down the foundation stone for another factory – he said, as reported by the municipality's website.

Cuckovic said that sir Ben, the president of the company Mei Ta, had decided to buy the premises of Bazna Hemija and submit the initiative for the acquisition in line with the law to the Government of Serbia.

– Back on Thursday, a Mei Ta department submitted the initiative to the Government of Serbia in order to reach a business decision on constructing a second factory in Obrenovac. Its capacities will be identical to those of the first one, which means that the production capacities on these premises will potentially double, requiring twice as many workers as defined in the first agreement. This is great news for people of Obrenovac and Serbia, as the construction of the second factory won't require additional funds. Obrenovac will become the center of the automotive industry in Southeastern Europe, since their company supplies 30% of the entire world market – Cuckovic said.
