(Milos Jelic) The Nelt Group will make more than EUR 900 million in revenues in 2016, which is a growth of 28.5%, said Milos Jelic, executive director of the Nelt Group, last week in Belgrade. He also announced new investments, above all in the food industry, but also in areas of logistics, electronic business etc, as well as plans to increase the market share and penetrate new markets.
In 2015, the Nelt Group made EUR 702 million in revenues, a growth of 40% compared to 2014. Jelic said that 250 workers had been employed in 2016 and that the Group had 4,000 employees in 12 companies operating in 7 countries at the moment.
The Group achieved these result through an organic growth, making agreements with new principals and clients, as well as by starting new businesses in 2015.
Nelt is a leader in providing services in distribution, logistics, production and trade marketing, and the new partnership with Bambi B&H, Hipp Macedonia, as well as new distribution centers in Bijeljina, Podgorica and Luanda and cooperation with the Lactalis group in the area of logistics services have had a positive impact on the company's revenues and reputation. In order to meet the demands of the clients in the best way possible, last year they activated the Tako Lako Shop, which has grown into the biggest online sales platform in Serbia in the meantime. In line with the world standards of socially responsible activities, Nelt has joined the United Nations Global Compact and published its first Corporate Sustainability Report “Distributing Responsibly”.
– By implementing new technologies in all our activities and responding professionally to our clients' and principals' needs, we have become a successful and recognizable business system. Our dedication to work is the best recommendation for new partnerships and long term maintenance of the current ones – stated Milos Jelic, executive director of the Nelt Group.
The Nelt Group is strategically oriented towards better positioning in the logistics services market, geographic expansion and further investments in development to the end of securing reliable operations in the future as well. The company seeks to maintain its stability through organic growth, continue to invest in the development and education of HR, expand its portfolios, production and service capacities of all companies in the system and contribute to the progress of the local communities it operates in.
Tako Lako Shop – free delivery, various payment options...
The new online store in the Serbian market – Tako Lako Shop – offers around 400,000 articles in 12 categories from around 300 suppliers.
– We are constantly working on expanding, but we choose the new products to include in our offer very carefully – explains Milan Radivojevic, director of strategy and business development of the Nelt Group.
Tako Lako Shop offers various methods of payment, and one of its special features is the option of paying by card in installments and without an interest. Nelt announces that a loyalty program will be introduced in the next month or two, which will provide additional conveniences to customers. One of the main difficulties they are facing is people's fear of online shopping in Serbia. Since they strive to overcome this obstacle in any way possible, Tako Lako Shop offers free delivery to any Corner Shop in the country (per the customer's wishes), where the goods are taken over and paid for personally whenever the customer finds it convenient.
As Radivojevic has announced, the idea is for Tako Lako Shop to enable Serbian producers to sell their goods in other markets as well in the future.
– We wish to enable distribution in states other than Serbia in the future and to help our commercial sector find its way to new customers – Radivojevic said.
Neoplanta – focus on processed meat products, sale of meat on hold
The Nelt Group also announced last week in Belgrade that it intended to expand the sale of its brand products, whether by building a new factory or by acquisitions of the companies that have the potential to become members of the group in their estimate. Nelt has a good experience with Neoplanta, which has, as Radivojevic says, become one of the leaders in its area.
Neoplanta has, by the way, been owned by Nelt since 2007, and it has increased its revenues three times, and its profit as much as nine times since then, Slobodan Vasilic, executive director of the Novi Sad factory clarified.
The company will, as he announced, temporarily halt the raising of livestock on its farms, as well as the sale of fresh meat, in order to further focus on the production and sale of processed meat products and prepare to implement higher standards in the production and sale of meat.
– These decisions will enable us to increase competitiveness and secure the development and the leading position in the area of processed meat products, to become the leading food industry in the region. We intend to more aggressively start penetrating the markets of Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia... – Vasilic said.
– This is a temporary decision. We had started the project of building a new farm earlier, but we decided not to start the job before finding an adequate partner, due to the transfer of knowledge, but also the possibility of reaching new markets – he explained.
At the same time, they will continue working on finding a strategic partner for the farm, in Serbia or abroad. All the options are open at the moment, whether its starting a new farm or revitalizing the existing ones in the future.
As well, Neoplanta has invested a lot in the development of its own retail stores. In Serbia, 30 brand meat stores operate, with a turnover of EUR 7 million a year, said the executive director of Neoplanta, Slobodan Vasilic.
Strategic orientation – development of logistics services and food brands
Executive Director Milos Jelic reminded again that they hadn't given up on the idea of aiding some other company like Neoplanta.
– Nevertheless, this is not easy. We have several projects on the table, but nothing has been decided on so far. We wish to create a brand and market it in cooperation with the distribution and logistics sector. We are considering all options – joint venture, greenfield and brownfield investments. This is an important strategic orientation of the Group – Jelic says.
He says for eKapija that, even when it comes to a possible purchase of a company, it would have to be a company with a good position and tangible results.
– We are not thinking about privatization, that belongs in the past.
The other direction of development is the development of logistics services, because, as Jelic says, it is certain that distribution will be in decline.
– In the area of logistics services, we are planning to invest in the Serbian market primarily, as it is our biggest market, but also in B&H, Montenegro, Macedonia... The intention is to invest in our infrastructure and the area of acquisitions, which is already being negotiated. We wish to increase our market share, but also to penetrate markets which are not within our scope at the moment, above all the Western Balkans – our interviewee explains.
He adds that there are ideas for the development of other businesses as well, such as startups in the area of IT, but that this is yet to be discussed in the coming period.
Aside from the Serbian market, which is the largest one, the executive director of the Nelt Group emphasizes the importance of the market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where around EUR 110 million in revenues is expected and where they own 4 distribution centers. Nelt will celebrate 10 years of operating in B&H by the end of the month.
Members of the Nelt Group are: Nelt Co. Serbia, Neoplanta Serbia, Nelt B&H, Neregelia Montenegro, Nelt ST Macedonia, Corner Shop Serbia, Tako Lako Shop, Benim Reklame Serbia, Javna Skladista Serbia, Nelt Angola, Nelt Zambia, Nelt Mozambique.
