(Bob Dylan) American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan has won the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature, as reported by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences in Stockholm.

The Academy states that Dylan has been awarded the prize “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”.

Dylan is one of the most influential musicians and singers-songwriters of all time. In his 50-year career, he has written about numerous topics, from everyday themes and life in the country to social issues and racial inequality.

He was a great opponent of the Vietnam War, and his songs like “Blowin' in the Wind” and “Times They are a-Changing”, have become anthems of American civil rights movements and war protesters.

His songs have been covered by numerous artists. In addition to collections of poetry, he has published six books of drawings and paintings, and his works have been exhibited in the largest galleries in the world. He has sold over 100 million albums all over the world.

As for awards, he has seemingly won everything he could. Eleven Grammys, a Golden Globe, an Oscar are just some of them. Barrack Obama awarded him the Medal of Freedom in 2012. His most famous include “Blowin' in the Wind”, “The Times They are a-Changing”, “Knocking on Heaven's Door” and “Like a Rolling Stone”.
