The construction of the Stop.Shop shopping mall on the plot of land which is now covered with weeds and debris should start next year. The Austrian company bought a section of the land from the company Arriva and 0.8 hectares from the City of Pozarevac in the industrial zone for the construction of office premises with the area of 10,000 square meters.
The city has earned RSD 11.8 million by selling the land. Mayor Bane Spasovic says that, according to the investor’s experience, one such center, along with all the brands which will be sold there, will provide for 350 to 400 new jobs.
– The city will provide the necessary infrastructure in line with the urban plan, all the access roads and roundabouts – explains Mitar Karadzic, head of the Directorate for Construction.
The announcement that new job positions will open are a great hope for the city’s unemployed, the number of whom is large due to lack of production in Pozarevac. Nearly four and a half thousand people living in the territory of Pozarevac are registered at the National Employment Service. A third of them are the young.
Stop.Shop is the first big investment in Pozarevac after more than 15 years, which provides hope for the revival of the industrial zone. Last year, the city also bought Secerana (sugar factory), with 22 hectares of land, along with office space, all of which has been offered to future investors. The north section of the industrial zone is currently being sold.
