The new law on electronic document, electronic identification and electronic trust services is to be adopted by the end of the year, announced the state secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matic, on October 25.

– The law will considerably improve electronic business, but also electronic services of the public administration in line with European standards – Matic said at the opening of the Smart E-Government conference.

She added that the draft law was the subject of the public debate last month, where representatives of the public and commercial sector gave a significant contribution to improving the content of the law with their comments.

Matic reminded that 63.8% household in Serbia had an internet connection, that over 1.5 million people used electronic public administration services, that over 1.2 million ordered and bought goods on the internet, and that 99.1% companies were online.

– Serbia is steadily moving towards solving the issue of cyber security and cyber trust, by following European trends and solutions of other states – Matic said.
