Discovery of 71 bags with undelivered mails - "Postal Company of Czech Republic" resolves the biggest scandal in its history
Czech Postal Company is resolving the biggest scandal in its history after 71 bags with tens of thousands of undelivered mail were discovered in a tunnel in Bržeclav, in the south of Czech Republic. They were found by the workers on the renovation of local railway junction, and all mails are from the period between 2001 and 2006.
Some of the letters and all packages are damaged and opened, and the tunnel was full of papers and photos.
- All packages were opened. It seems like someone opened them randomly and browsed their contents - said Police inspector Jan Cupel to the Czech press.
There are also the letters and packages that the recipients registered as missing and complained to the postal company, but it rejected all reclamations. This scandal is unbelievable because the postal company did not notice that so many mail was missing over the years.
According to the first version given by the Police, someone employed with the postal company was putting the mail aside in order to steal the money and other precious things from it.
- As soon as the investigation allows, we will take the mails and send them with our deepest apology, after so many years, to the recipients - said the spokesperson of "Postal Company of Czech Republic" Ivo Mravinac.
